Construction of a $60 million sports complex in Tasmania's north-west has reached another milestone.
Minister for Sport, Nick Duigan, said significant work has been delivered on the indoor community courts, administration and kiosk areas, and indoor cricket areas.
"The project has taken a significant step towards completion, with 20 per cent of the development now finished, which means it's really start coming to life," Minister Duigan said.
"More than 375 deliveries of concrete have arrived, that's in excess of 3,000m3 of concrete placed on site.
"Precast installation works have been completed around the community courts, and the first slab for the administration and kiosk building has been successfully poured.
"Further groundworks for the indoor cricket areas have also been finalised, which is fantastic to see.
"The Tasmanian Government is delivering community sport infrastructure just like these new facilities being built in Devonport.
"The new sports complex will improve community access to sport and active recreation in North West Tasmania, ensuring the health and wellbeing of people of all ages and abilities.
"The sports complex will also bring economic benefits for the region and create more than 360 jobs during its construction."
The upgraded facilities include a three-court indoor community hall, a three-court show court hall, and cricket and high-performance training facilities.
"It's great to see the works well underway, and I look forward to the delivery of a fit-for-purpose facility that will benefit generations to come," Minister Duigan said.
Federal Member for Braddon, Anne Urquhart, said she has been thrilled to see the progress on this major development.
"It will provide new opportunities for sportspeople and teams right across the North West Coast," Ms Urquhart said.
"It will also be a hub that will bring our community together and attract events from further afield. It's an exciting project and the Federal Government's $25 million contribution is testament to our commitment to regional communities."
The Devonport Oval Complex is expected to be completed in mid-2027.
