Disparities in De Novo Metastatic Breast Cancer Care

JAMA Network

About The Study: This cross-sectional study of patients with de novo metastatic breast cancer (dnMBC) found racial and ethnic disparities in disease presentation and inequities in timely treatment for dnMBC across subtypes, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions to improve care delivery and outcomes. De novo metastatic breast cancer, defined as the presence of distant metastases at initial diagnosis, accounts for only 5.4% to 10.0% of new cases but disproportionately contributes to breast cancer mortality in the U.S.
