Dog located after ride in car stolen from Brighton

Moe the cavoodle, who was inside an allegedly stolen vehicle in Brighton this morning, has been reunited with his family.

It is alleged a black Mercedes station wagon was parked outside a store on Were Street just after 7.30am, before two men got into the vehicle and fled the scene with two-year-old Moe inside.

The men were allegedly driving a white BMW believed to be linked to the stolen Mercedes and were involved in a collision on Dorothea Mackellar Ave in Oakleigh East about 11.45am.

The pair allegedly fled the scene on foot and were arrested nearby on Macrina Street.

Box Hill DIU members tasked with Operation Fortress have charged a 20-year-old man from The Basin and a 25-year-old Ashwood man with two counts of theft of motor vehicle and other offences.

They will both appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

The Mercedes is yet to be located. It is described a 2017 C250 Mercedes Station wagon with roof racks and registration VBG 946.
