DTU once again ranks at the top of the list when engineers, technology profiles and students assess Denmark's most popular engineering workplaces. In Ingeniørens Profilanalyse 2026, DTU ranks third for the second year in a row, surpassed only by LEGO and Novo Nordisk.
A new agenda for engineers
The employer brand analysis, which for more than 20 years has taken the temperature of Danish engineers' views on workplaces and career choices, also points to new trends in what makes a workplace attractive. Sustainability remains an important agenda, but this year's analysis shows that defence and security play a more prominent role than before.
This development reflects a broader societal trend. A survey conducted by the Confederation of Danish Industry and the research institute Epinion shows a shift in attitudes towards the defence industry, with more people becoming positive towards the sector.
For DTU, this year's result underlines the university's strong position among engineers. In addition to its overall third place, DTU is the category winner in "Research and development".
Associated with a sense of pride
The workplaces are among other things compared on values such as career advancement, meaningful work, high job security and a good working environment. DTU stands out as the workplace that scores highest on meaningful work, with 54 per cent, compared to an average of 33 per cent.
DTU also ranks highly on the pride indicator. DTU shares second place with Grundfos, with a score of 61 per cent, while the average among the measured workplaces is 42 per cent.
"It is very gratifying that DTU is once again rated as one of Denmark's most attractive workplaces for engineers. It shows that DTU stands strong both as an educational and research institution and as a workplace for people who want to help develop solutions to society's major challenges," says DTU President Anders Bjarklev.
This year's analysis shows that engineers' expectations of an attractive workplace continue to be linked to good professional challenges, opportunities for development, and responsibility. At the same time, the experience of meaningful work plays an important role-an area where DTU clearly stands out.
