East Carnarvon Hit and Run Crash Charges

Major Crash Investigators have charged a man following their investigation into a hit and run crash in East Carnarvon on Sunday, 3 January 2021.

It will be alleged that at approximately 7pm the man was driving a white Honda Accord westerly along Robinson Street when he collided with the rear of a cyclist who was riding in the same direction. The cyclist was thrown onto the vehicle's windscreen before landing on the road. The driver did not stop and continued driving.

The cyclist, a 52 year old man, received serious head injuries and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Honda, a 36 year old Carnarvon man, has been charged with:

• Dangerous Driving Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm

• Driver failed to stop and ensure assistance received after incident occasioning grievous bodily harm

• Driver fail to report an incident occasioning death or grievous bodily harm

He is due to appear in the Carnarvon Magistrates Court on Monday, 18 January 2021.
