Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network (EMPHN) has appointed experienced health executive, Janine Wilson, as CEO.

EMPHN's Chair, Dr Stephen Duckett, said Janine's significant experience in implementing strategy and driving innovation will be crucial in guiding EMPHN's business over the next five years.

"Over the last 12 months, EMPHN has re-positioned itself to focus on its transformational strategies under its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan.

"Janine's experience and dynamic energy will be invaluable in harnessing both innovative thinking and the organisation's energy to drive this journey.

"Thank you to the Interim CEO Geoff Lavender, the Executive team, and all staff for maintaining the momentum, especially given the challenges that COVID-19 has presented," Stephen said.

With 25 years' experience in health, Janine brings extensive knowledge and experience in leadership, strategy, stakeholder relations and the harnessing of data to drive change for the benefit of the community.

Janine has held senior executive positions in Telstra Health with the National Cancer Screening Register, which is operated on behalf of the Commonwealth Department of Health and supports screening for cervical and bowel cancer.

Janine has also held a number of executive roles with the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, now Lifeblood. Here she led significant transformation of the national workforce and introduced a new technology platform to facilitate an improved experience for blood donors.

Janine is excited by the opportunities that this role presents.

"It is an exciting time to be joining Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network, with its clear strategic vision supported by a talented and dedicated team.

"The organisation has recorded some great achievements to date, creating a strong platform upon which to drive transformation in the delivery of healthcare to the local community.

"The Board's strategy was developed with input from many across the local health sector.

"I am looking forward to working with the Board and Executive as well as partners across the EMPHN network to ensure delivery of this Plan."

Janine starts as the CEO of EMPHN on Monday 1 June 2020.
