Labor Member for Braddon Shane Broad said speculation is rife today that Michael Ferguson will walk away from Peter Gutwein's cabinet reshuffle as Tasmania's next Treasurer.
"If that happens it's a clear payoff for pulling out of the fight for the Premier's job.
"It's also a hospital pass, designed to keep Michael Ferguson too busy to take another run at the leadership.
"The losers out of this would be the Tasmanian people, given Michael Ferguson's poor track record of managing his portfolios.
"Tasmanians will be saddled with a Treasurer who has failed to improve outcomes as Health Minister, and as Infrastructure Minister has overseen delays and problems on important infrastructure projects, and botched delivery of key initiatives like the new Spirits of Tasmania.
"Is that the man who should be managing the state's finances?"
