The ticket application phase for the Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 opens today, giving fans more opportunity to secure their place at the tournament and marking 500 days to go until the opener in Perth.

From today until 4pm AWST on Tuesday, 2 June, the ticket application phase gives fans world-wide the opportunity to apply for tickets to all 52 matches across Australia, including Perth, in all price categories.

A record-breaking 750,0000 tickets have already been snapped up in the presale for this major event which is expected to attract thousands of global rugby fans to host cities like Perth.

Supported by the Cook Labor Government, the highly anticipated Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 opening match takes place at Perth Stadium on Friday, 1 October 2027 when Australia takes on Hong Kong China in a historymaking debut for the Asian qualifiers.

The global sporting event will also see Perth host matches featuring 2019 and 2023 winners South Africa, three-time champions New Zealand, and a Six Nations showdown between Ireland and Scotland for four weeks of rugby action that is expected to attract tens of thousands of outofState visitors to Western Australia, injecting millions into the local economy.

Perth will host seven matches in total, including the opening match, four pool matches, and two 'Round of 16' clashes - a first in tournament history under the new 24team format introduced by World Rugby, where 16 teams from the six pools compete, with the winners of each Round of 16 matches going to the quarter finals.

The application phase is now open, with a ballot system to be used to ensure everyone has a fair chance to purchase tickets if applications for matches exceeds the number of tickets on offer.

Ticket-inclusive hospitality and travel packages are also available, offering fans the opportunity to secure their seat and book their trip to Western Australia altogether.

Ticket sales for the tournament have been hugely successful so far, surpassing the pace set by previous editions and demonstrating extraordinary demand, with Australia's opening match against Hong Kong China, the Ireland vs Scotland showdown, and the Round of 16 clashes among the most popular.

Ticket prices begin at $40 for adults and $20 for children. With one million tickets set at $100 or less, the event has been designed to be budget friendly and accessible for fans.

The Men's Rugby World Cup is held every four years and is recognised as the third largest sporting event in the world, behind only the Summer Olympics and the Men's FIFA World Cup.

Western Australia last hosted a Rugby World Cup match in 2003, when more than 43,000 fans packed Subiaco Oval to watch England take on South Africa.

The Men's Rugby World Cup 2027 will be the pinnacle of Western Australia's golden decade of rugby, which has included Perth being awarded the Australian-exclusive hosting rights for the annual HSBC SVNS from 2024-2028; the Wallabies vs Springboks blockbuster in August 2024; the British and Irish Lions Tour in June 2025; and the soldout Australianexclusive Bledisloe Cup in October 2025.

Hosting global events is a core part of the Cook Labor Government's strategy to diversify Western Australia's economy, by boosting the tourism industry to support local businesses, create jobs for Western Australians, and build an always on, year-round events calendar that promotes community vibrancy.
