Finks OMCG Members Targeted as Organised Crime Priority

As part of one of the first of the new organised crime priorities, detectives will be proactively targeting members of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) believed to be linked to acts of violence, arsons and extortions.

Members from Taskforce Echo, Operation Phoenix, the VIPER Taskforce and uniform members will be increasing patrols, conducting Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) searches and services and executing search warrants.

The activity will focus on weakening the operational structure of the Finks OMCG.

Anyone with information on OMCG activity is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit an anonymous report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

Quotes attributable to Detective Superintendent Wayne Cheesman, State Anti-Gangs Division:

"Outlaw motorcycle gangs are always looking for opportunities to generate illicit wealth, and they will exploit people and businesses to achieve it. They often prey on vulnerable people and use violence, intimidation and fear to further their criminal interests. This is simply unacceptable.

"Outlaw motorcycle gang offending causes real harm to individuals, families and communities. Victoria Police will continue to target these gangs and dismantle their ability to cause harm.

"My message to the Finks OMCG, and to any outlaw motorcycle gang that chooses to cause harm in our community, is very clear: if you choose to continue your involvement in serious and organised crime, Victoria Police is coming after you.

"We will target you. We will stop your offending. We will dismantle the networks that enable your criminal activity, and we will come after the illicit wealth and assets generated through your offending. We will use every lawful avenue available to us to hold you to account."
