Queenslanders will come together and share in the buzz of the FIFA World Cup™, with South Bank set to play host to a live site, celebrating the world game and backing our Socceroos.
The iconic riverfront precinct will transform into Brisbane's home of the FIFA World Cup™, drawing fans together to share in the excitement of the highly anticipated tournament.
The live site at South Bank Cultural Forecourt is free for all and will screen all three Socceroos matches, creating a sea of green and gold as supporters rally behind Australia in an electric atmosphere, while also airing other matches featuring Germany, Brazil and the Netherlands.
Tony Popovic's men will face Turkey, USA and Paraguay on the world stage in Group D.
Beyond the matches, the event will showcase Brisbane's vibrant hospitality and world-class attractions, encouraging people to experience more of the city.
The influx of fans is expected to deliver a strong boost to local businesses, from bars and restaurants to hotels and tourism operators.
The live site will drive activity across the city, delivering flow-on benefits for businesses and venues throughout Brisbane.
Premier David Crisafulli said the live site would give Queenslanders a chance to come together and share in the excitement of the FIFA World Cup™.
"Queenslanders have waited four long years for the FIFA World Cup™ to come around again and to see our mighty Socceroos in action again on the world stage will be something special," Premier Crisafulli said.
"Football is a brilliant way of bringing communities together so to do it in such a high profile location will be truly special."
Minister for Tourism Andrew Powell said the live site would not only create a memorable fan experience but also drive benefits for the local economy. "This is about creating a shared atmosphere where fans can come together and be part of the action," Minister Powell said. "By delivering a world-class live site, we're giving people a place to connect, celebrate and support the team together.
"When the crowds come out, it's a win for local businesses and a great boost for Brisbane and Queensland."
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said South Bank would provide the perfect backdrop for Brisbane fans to enjoy the FIFA World Cup™.
"World Cup fever is coming to South Bank, giving fans and families a free riverside live site to cheer on the Socceroos and enjoy the ultimate fan zone," Cr Schrinner said.
"As Australia's lifestyle capital, Brisbane knows how to turn major sporting moments into city-wide celebrations and South Bank is the perfect place to bring football fans together.

These screenings mark Brisbane's first major Men's FIFA World Cup™ fan experience since Qatar 2022.
