Fourth person charged over kidnapping near Dapto

A fourth person has been charged over the alleged kidnapping of a man on the state's south coast last year.

About 9pm (Friday 26 April 2018), two women aged, 28 and 30, were travelling in a white Holden Commodore to meet a 29-year-old man outside a home on Avondale Road, Avondale.

Once outside the location, two men aged 28 and 30, opened the rear passenger door and allegedly assaulted the 29-year-old male passenger before forcing him into the boot of the vehicle.

The vehicle stopped on St James Road, Dapto where the 29-year-old man managed to free himself and seek assistance from members of the public.

The vehicle drove away in an unknown direction.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District attended and commenced an investigation. Strike Force Khatabundah was established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged kidnapping.

The 29-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment.

About 3.45pm (Wednesday 9 January 2019), a 30-year-old woman attended Lake Illawarra Police Station where she was arrested and charged with kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Wollongong District Court on Friday 27 September 2019.

On Wednesday 6 February 2019, police arrested a 28-year-old man from Mangerton. He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, and damage property by fire.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong District Court on Friday 27 September 2019.

About 7.10am on Sunday 14 April 2019, strike force investigators arrested a 28-year-old man at a unit on Harriett Street, Singleton.

He was taken to Singleton Police Station where he was charged with kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Muswellbrook Local Court on Monday 15 April 2019 where he remained in custody to reappear at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday 2 October 2019.

Yesterday (Wednesday 25 September 2019), a 28-year-old woman from Koonawarra attended Lake Illawarra Police Station, where she was arrested and charged with kidnap in company with intent to commit serious indictable occasion actual bodily harm.

She was refused bail and appeared at Wollongong Local Court yesterday (Wednesday 25 September 2019) where she was granted conditional bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 27 November 2019.
