The City of Fremantle wishes to thank the community who came together to watch the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
More than 40,000 people attended the City's four live sites, the event at Fremantle Oval, and the dozens of hospitality venues across the city to watch the game.
The way in which you dressed up, showed up and took part in one of the biggest days in Fremantle's history is an absolute credit to the passionate, inclusive community that you are. You were there for each other through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. It was a galvanising experience, and we are proud to have played a role in that.
The City delivered a well-planned, well-attended event that celebrated the Fremantle Dockers and our city. We prioritised the visitor experience, with five large screens, additional toilets, water and safety amenities as well as extra food and beverage outlets.
Through enhanced cleaning and waste teams, the City was able to deliver a post-event clean up in a very short space of time.
The City would like to thank its event delivery partners including Lux Events, WA Police, St John Ambulance, Public Transport Authority and the Seven Network.
The City is currently evaluating the economic impact of the Grand Final activation and will report that in due course.
The Cappuccino Strip live site was seen by a national audience of 6.5 million people through Seven and 7plus Sport. The Seven Network's broadcast was the most watched AFL Grand Final ever and put Fremantle front and centre on the national stage (alongside Kylie, of course!).
The City thanks the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce and the entire Fremantle business community for the enthusiasm and creativity that went into their window decorations and for their preparedness to handle the larger than usual crowds. Congratulations to Tuart Place who won the window display competition.
Finally, to the Fremantle Football Club, the City of Fremantle is proud to have supported you throughout the 2026 season, especially during the Finals Series, and we are ready to get behind you again in 2027.
