Further charges laid after Castle Hill carjacking

Additional charges have been laid against a man over an alleged carjacking in Sydney's Hills District last weekend.

Police will allege in court that a 29-year-old woman parked her BMW 428i in The Hills Showground Metro car park about 8.35am on Sunday (4 October 2020), when she was approached by a man who allegedly demanded the keys to her car, telling her he had a knife.

The Kellyville woman handed over the keys and was allegedly assaulted when she tried to run away, sustaining minor injuries. The man drove away in the BMW.

Detectives from The Hills Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, officers from Newcastle City Police District were patrolling the Junction area about 9:30pm the same day, when they saw the stolen BMW parked in Kemp Street. Police will allege the driver accelerated away and a pursuit was initiated. It was terminated shortly after due to safety concerns.

About 1am on Monday (5 October 2020), four males – aged 18, 16 and two aged 19 – were arrested at the Palmdale Road overpass at Ourimbah. They were charged and remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, the 18-year-old man was issued a Court Attendance Notice for aggravated robbery today (Friday 9 October 2020).

He is next due to appear before Gosford Local Court on Thursday 22 October 2020.
