Detectives from Serious and Organised Crime Branch have over the last two days made further arrests as a consequence of the ongoing review of An0m messaging as part of the Ironside Taskforce.
Yesterday (Monday 20 June), a 45-year-old man from Mitcham was arrested in Adelaide and charged with seven counts of cultivate and trafficking large commercial quantities of cannabis.
On the same day, a 43-year-old man from Urbrae was arrested at his home address and charged with seven counts of cultivate and trafficking large commercial amounts of cannabis.
Both men have pre-existing charges that were commenced as a result of Operation Ironside. It will be alleged that they worked as part of a criminal syndicate cultivating and distributing large quantities of cannabis across Australia. Two other members of the syndicate remain in custody on Ironside related charges will be further charged administratively to ultimately face charges with these two men. All four men will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 15 July.
The maximum penalty for cultivating or trafficking large commercial quantities of cannabis is $1,000,000 or life imprisonment or both.
As a result of a separate investigation, a 29-year-old man from Ascot Park was arrested today and charged with one count of take part in the manufacture of a large commercial quantity of methylamphetamine.
The man, who is an alleged member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motor Cycle Gang, is alleged to have sourced prescribed precursor chemicals which were used to manufacture methylamphetamine at an industrial clandestine laboratory located by police on 18 August 2020 at Morphett Vale. He will face these charges together with nine other accused that are already before the courts in connection with this laboratory. The man has been refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow. The maximum penalty for this offence is $1,000,000 or imprisonment for life or both.
