Grievous Bodily Harm Charge, Coomera

Police have charged a man following investigations into the serious assault of another man in Coomera early on 2 August.

Emergency services were called to a licenced venue on Dreamworld Parkway around 1am, following reports a man 36-year-old Coomera man had sustained serious head injuries following an assault.

It will be alleged a 27-year-old Southport man had approached the man in the carpark of the venue, striking him in the face.

The 36-year-old victim is alleged to have fallen as a result of the assault, sustaining serious head injuries.

He was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

The offender is then alleged to have left the scene in a rideshare vehicle.

Following investigations, police arrested a 27-year-old man at Ormeau around 1:00pm on 3 August.

He has since been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm.

The man is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on 4 August.
