There's half a million reasons to celebrate our youth, with a huge investment from the NSW Government to run Youth Week events next year in all local councils.
Minister for Families and Communities and Minister for Disability Services Natasha Maclaren-Jones said the NSW Government is investing almost $500,000 toward Youth Week 2023 events across the state.
"Every year hundreds of exciting events occur throughout NSW, involving tens of thousands of young people," Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.
"The funding is offered to local councils, who match the contribution dollar for dollar.
"Most significantly, the events are led and driven by young people themselves. They increase participation and inclusion, while also providing opportunities for social connection and community engagement."
Youth Week involves a wide range of activities such as concerts, discussion forums, workshops, markets, arts and crafts exhibitions, movie nights, barbecues and much more.
Funding is allocated to local councils based on the number of young people living in their area.
"Youth Week aligns with the NSW Government's Active Communities objective," Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.
"Young people are the future of our society and this investment helps them stay actively involved in the community."
Youth Week will run from 20 to 30 April 2023.
