Consistent quality sleep has a major impact on how we function, and poor sleep can have a cumulative effect on our health, to the point of cardiovascular disease or even dementia. Dr. Jennifer Kanaan, UConn Health pulmonologist specializing in sleep disorders, discusses that plus daylight saving time, school start times, devices that claim to monitor sleep, and why it can be helpful to identify yourself as an early bird or a night owl.

She also explains what is happening biologically in our brain when we are getting quality rapid-eye-movement sleep.

It's becoming more and more clear that there is a very close link between insufficient sleep and increased risk of dementia.
