Four-time Logie winner and entertainer Hugh Sheridan has been announced as a new ambassador for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, joining the fight to raise awareness and funds in memory of his late father, Denis, who died from prostate cancer in 2021.
The announcement comes off the back of the release of Sheridan's new album, Something Big, featuring songs recorded with his father in the days after his diagnosis with the disease.
"My dad nurtured my love of singing, and I'm so incredibly proud to connect that gift with such an important cause," Sheridan said.
"We never thought we'd lose my dad to prostate cancer. As an ambassador for PCFA, I want men and families to know that we can't afford to be complacent about this disease, that our efforts to raise awareness makes a difference, and that research and clinical trials can save lives."
Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia CEO Anne Savage commended the star.
"We're deeply humbled to welcome Hugh as an ambassador and know that his voice will make a significant difference to our work," she said.
"His father, Denis, was an inspiration and a friend to so many - we're delighted that this partnership will help to honour his memory and continue his legacy of light, love and music."
Sheridan has already raised over $15,000 for the foundation.
"Something Big is an unforgettable album, showcasing a father-son bond that cannot be broken by death," Ms Savage said.
"It's an album that Australians need to own and cherish."
