Hume City Council has launched a new advocacy framework to guide investment priorities through to 2030, presented at Town Hall Broadmeadows on Friday 17 April.

The 2026 - 2030 Advocating for a Better Future launch brought together community organisations, business leaders, advocacy partners and representatives from across government.

The framework outlines Council's long‑term approach to advocating for the infrastructure and services needed to support Hume City, meeting the needs of one of the fastest‑growing and most culturally diverse municipalities in Australia.

Endorsed by Councillors in late 2025, the framework focuses on a set of priority projects and issues that respond to growing pressure on transport, infrastructure, safety and livability across Hume.

The launch provided an opportunity for the community to understand why these priorities were chosen and how Council will work with State and Federal Governments to attract investment over the next five years.

It also invited residents, businesses and local organisations to play an active role by adding their voices and experiences to strengthen advocacy efforts.

Council is committed to being consistent in its efforts under the framework, focussed on securing investment that delivers lasting benefits for the Hume community.

Council's strategy is on long-term outcomes over short-term commitments, and we will continue advocating for projects that improve connectivity, safety and quality of life for generations to come.

Quotes attributable to Hume City Mayor, Cr Carly Moore:

"Hume is a city of growth and opportunity, but funding has not kept pace with the demands placed on our community."

"If governments expect growth areas to carry the weight of rapid population increases, they must also deliver the infrastructure and services that make growth sustainable."

"We have set clear priorities, and we are calling on our community to stand with us and help drive this campaign for the investment Hume needs."
