Huon Valley Family Outreach Boost

The Tasmanian Government is delivering on its commitment to provide more support for families with young children, with work now underway on a new Child and Family Learning Centre (CFLC) community outreach model in the Huon Valley.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said the initiative would help ensure families can access the services they need, closer to home.

"Our Government committed up to $3 million at the 2025 election to provide infrastructure upgrades in the Huon Valley to support the delivery of CFLC community outreach services," Minister Palmer said.

"These services will provide advice on health and family matters, education, and training as well as wellbeing services from pregnancy to age five.

"A CFLC Local Enabling Group, made up of educators, community members and service providers, is guiding the development of the outreach model. Their work will help determine the infrastructure upgrades needed to support service delivery across the region."

The new outreach service will complement existing supports provided through the wayraparattee Child and Family Learning Centre at Geeveston.

"This is about listening to the community and delivering services that reflect the needs of local families," Minister Palmer said.

"The outreach model will identify what services are needed and where they should be delivered across the Huon Valley.

"Our Government is delivering for families by investing in the services and supports they need closer to home."
