Orange Regional Museum will deliver its most ambitious exhibition to date thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Cadia Legacy Fund, supported by Newmont.
The grant was awarded under both the Sustainability, Technology and Innovation pillar and the Tourism pillar of the fund, and will support the development of Mawambul: Here. Together. -a new permanent exhibition scheduled to open in November. The exhibition celebrates the region's diverse stories through immersive multimedia, local voices and world-class museum design.

FUNDING BOOST: Orange Mayor Tony Mileto, Newmont Cadia Acting Director – Social Performance Melissa O'Brien and Orange Regional Museum Manager Dr Mary-Elizabeth Andrews.
Orange Mayor Tony Mileto welcomed the announcement and said the support from Newmont represented a major investment in the region's cultural life.
"This new exhibition reflects the strength of Orange's arts and culture sector and the power of collaboration between Council, community and partners like Newmont. This funding helps ensure our local stories-especially those of Wiradjuri people-are shared in dynamic, inclusive and meaningful ways," Cr Mileto said.
The Mawambul exhibition will feature a large-scale multimedia presentation on Wiradjuri Country and culture, an interactive projection featuring maps of our region across time, and an interactive 'people wall' connecting visitors to themes and events in our history through personal stories from across the community.
Newmont's Cadia Legacy Fund grant enables the purchase of custom-designed AV and interactive technology to bring these elements to life. It will also fund the development of custom software to ensure the exhibition remains engaging, accessible and sustainable over time.
Newmont Cadia General Manager Lori Douglas said supporting the project reflects Newmont's commitment to its core value of sustainability while underpinning a key cultural initiative in the region.
"Through the exhibition, Orange Regional Museum is providing an innovative way for people to connect with the First Nations history of the area. The technology being developed with grant funding from the Cadia Legacy Fund will enable the museum to feature a sustainable and impressive exhibit which will strengthen community connections across the region."
The exhibition is expected to attract more than 350,000 visitors over ten years, generating an estimated $125 million in regional economic benefit.
The $250,000 contribution from Newmont represents 34 per cent of the total project budget, alongside support from Orange City Council, Create NSW and the Museum's own program funds.
