Inland Rail Construction Progresses with Green Street Bridge Removal

To allow the safe running of double-stacked freight trains, the Green Street bridge is being replaced and the rail tracks lowered by 2.8 metres.

Our construction partner McConnell Dowell successfully removed 12 sections of the bridge, six on the east side and six on the west side of the central bridge pier.

Averaging about 1.5m wide and 12m long, the sections varied between about 10 and 16 tonnes.

Watch the video to see how the bridge was removed.
