The Interreg Europe InnoHEIs project, in which the UAB participates under the coordination of Department of Economics and Economic History researcher Ricard Esparza Masana, aims to coordinate universities and public administrations in defining better policies with which to solve a common challenge: fostering the collaboration of universities and their immediate surroundings with the goal of strengthening institutional possibilities, and at the same time providing more resources and improvements of university facilities, which are very often underused.

On 29, 30 and 31 March, Barcelona will be hosting the project's seminar. In the seminar, the UAB will play host to the project members, including representatives of national and local governments, as well as those from universities in the Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Lithuania, Poland and France.

The seminar, which will take place largely at the UAB Casa Convalescència, located within the historical Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau complex in Barcelona, will include the participation of the Government of Catalonia, with presentations by the Ministry for Universities and Research, by the Agency for Business Competitiveness (Agència per la Competitivitat de Catalunya, ACCIÓ), and the Ministry for the Vice Presidency and Digital and Regional Policies. The seminar also will include presentations by entities such as the EURECAT, the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC).

Debates among attendants will lead to the formulation of new conceptual proposals aimed at improving policies in this area, both in Catalonia and in the rest of regions represented in the project, with the goal of finding solutions to a shared challenge and fostering long-term collaborations among the participants of InnoHEIs.
