ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Ads fell 0.8 per cent month on month in November following an upwardly revised 1.9 per cent month-on-month decline in October. The trend series fell 1.3 per cent month on month, after a 1.9 per cent month-on-month fall in October.

"ANZ-Indeed Australian Job Ads recorded its fifth-consecutive monthly decline in November (seasonally adjusted), down 0.8 per cent month on month, with an annual decline of 6.3 per cent. Job ads have now declined for seven of the previous eight months," ANZ Economist Aaron Luk said.
"The unemployment rate reverted to 4.3 per cent in October, after ticking up to 4.5 per cent in September. Employment rose by 42,200, above expectations; and the underemployment rate remained low at 5.7 per cent. Since the start of the year, the employment to population ratio has eased while the unemployment rate has edged higher.."
Indeed Senior Economist, Callam Pickering, said job ads fell across most states and territories in November, with the largest decline in Victoria.
"Over the past year, the fall in Job Ads has been concentrated in Queensland and Victoria, with New South Wales also underperforming. Western Australia continues to outperform national trends," he said.
"Seasonal hiring in retail began to unwind in November, but in food preparation & service roles opportunities continued to grow. Job Ads for both sectors will likely fall in December.
"Software development continues to defy national trends, with Job Ads rising in November and higher than a year ago. That is particularly interesting because software development is also the category where artificial intelligence is most frequently mentioned."
