Kilmore-Wallan Bypass progresses

Progressing the Kilmore-Wallan Bypass has been a priority of Mitchell Shire Council and it will have a significant benefit to our community.

Advancing the planning for the bypass and its alignment is an important step towards progressing the project. Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) recently approached Council for support to start the process to implement a Public Acquisition Overlay (PAO) for the western option around the Kilmore Township.

The PAO process will set aside the required land will allow the bypass to be acquired and then constructed in the future. Additionally, RRV will commence a consultation process which will review two options presented for the bypass alignment north of Willomavin Road. The Council has requested to proceed with this part of the project without delay.

Council will continue to work with and support RRV to progress the bypass to construction stage.

The bypass project will reinvigorate Kilmore as it will provide the opportunity to improve the streetscape of the town centre and enhance the environment.
