Northern Territory Police have arrested a 20-year-old man after ammunition, a replica firearm and other prohibited items were allegedly located at his residence.
The man was subject to court-ordered bail for alleged firearm, drug and traffic offences. His conditions included a residential curfew and prohibitions on possessing drugs, firearms or imitation firearms.
Fugitive Taskforce members conducted a search of the man's residence.
During the search, investigators located and seized:
- A replica gel-blaster assault rifle
- 98 rounds of .223-calibre ammunition
- 36 rounds of .22-calibre ammunition
- Six rounds of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition
- A modified rifle stock
- A makeshift firework
- Ten vials of suspected anabolic steroids
- A drug implement
Following continued enquiries, Fugitive Taskforce members located and arrested the man.
He was taken to the Palmerston Watch House and is expected to be charged with bail, firearm and drug offences. Police will oppose bail and consider issuing a Firearms Prohibition Order.
Detective Sergeant Tim Healey said bail conditions are imposed to protect the community and they are not optional.
"The alleged presence of ammunition and an imitation firearm at the address of a person expressly prohibited from possessing those items is extremely concerning.
"The Fugitive Taskforce will continue targeting individuals who disregard their bail conditions and allegedly place the community at risk."
