Technology is with us in almost every situation, from work to mobility to healthcare. Researchers at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) analyze how society and technology interact. The KIT Humans and Technology Center is presenting its work on Monday, July 18, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. in Karlsruhe's City Hall. The researchers will show some current projects at a science slam entitled "Wandel gestalten" (shaping change). Parallel to that, the MobiLab will be open July 18-20, 2022, to visitors on the market square in Karlsruhe. The mobile lab provides a place for dialogue between scientists and the public.
Forward-looking themes like digitalization, the energy transition and mobility are directly linked to technologies and innovations. The public has diverse expectations of scientists, and diverse views of the consequences of technological progress. The KIT Humans and Technology Center focuses on this interface between society and academia. It connects the work of KIT researchers who investigate the interactions between people and their high-tech world from social, ethical, cultural, economic and legal perspectives. Their research looks at both the consequences of technical innovations and the public perception of technology.
The "KIT im Rathaus" event gives interested members of the public the opportunity to get acquainted with this exciting field of research at a science slam. All interested persons, especially schoolchildren, are invited to take part in this event coordinated by KIT's ZAK | Center for Cultural and General Studies. A reception afterward offers a chance to talk with researchers from the KIT center. Entry is free.
In addition, the MobiLab will be open July 18-20, 2022, to visitors in front of the Karlsruhe City Hall. The MobiLab is a mobile participation lab in tiny-house format and serves as a platform for dialogue between scientists and the public.
