La Trobe University graduates are among the most employable in the country, according to a nationwide survey which ranked the University third in Victoria for recent undergraduate employment.
89.4 per cent of the University's graduates find employment within six months of completing their studies, above the national average.
La Trobe students earn an average of $67,000 per year upon graduation - placing the University equal third in Victoria on this measure, of the state's eight universities.
La Trobe Vice-Chancellor Professor John Dewar AO said it was pleasing to see La Trobe graduates continuing to be strongly preferred by employers.
"La Trobe graduates have always been well-equipped to achieve successful and fulfilling careers in areas of critical workforce need," Professor Dewar said.
"A large component of that is the University working in partnership with industry and employers to design course content and facilitate industry placements around their needs."
Professor Dewar said La Trobe's Career Ready Advantage program is currently supporting more than 16,000 students to improve their employability.
"Many of our students are coached in preparing for job interviews, make deep connections with industry mentors, and develop skills in the workplace, while they're still studying," Professor Dewar said.
"This sets them up for future career success, helping them find work and - as shown in these latest survey results - earning higher salaries than many of their peers."
QILT (Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching) surveyed graduates from all Australian universities approximately four to six months after finishing their studies.
The Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) measures short-term employment outcomes including skills utilisation, further study activities and graduate satisfaction.
La Trobe graduates improved on most measures since 2021, including labour force participation, graduate salaries, full-time employment and overall employment.
About the GOS
The Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) is completed by graduates approximately four months after completion of their studies. It provides information on the labour market outcomes and further study activities of graduates. Employment data collected includes information on salaries, occupation and skills utilisation. The GOS has been administered annually since 2016.
Recent graduates of Australian higher education institutions are in scope for the GOS, including at undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research level. Information is collected for both domestic and onshore international graduates, however published results refer to domestic graduates only.
