Lab names Rachelle Jeppson chief financial officer

Rachelle Jeppson has been named the Lab's chief finanical officer.

Rachelle Jeppson has been selected as the chief financial officer (CFO) for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), Director Kimberly Budil announced today. Her appointment will be effective June 27.

As CFO, Jeppson will oversee the Lab's $2.6 billion annual budget and will provide management and leadership for a large staff of financial professionals covering accounting, budget and financial analysis. She will be responsible for establishing and overseeing financial policies, procedures and controls; disbursement of funds; financial reporting; and compliance with federal financial requirements. She also will facilitate Lab financial communications with external agencies, including the preparation of budget submissions and other funding requests. In addition, she will serve as treasurer of Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC, which manages the Laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration.

Jeppson currently serves as the Lab's deputy CFO/controller where she is a senior member of the CFO team, leading the financial accounting operations for the Lab. In this capacity, she is the primary point of contact for the analysis and interpretation of financial contractual requirements and policy. From February 2010 to June 2017, she was the Laboratory controller at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where she led the financial accounting operations including royalty accounting, accounts payable, payroll, travel, conference services and financial controls and compliance. From February 2009 to January 2010 she was the director of Ethics & Compliance for the University of California Office of the President. Prior to her UC assignment she held various positions within the CFO Directorate at LLNL.

Jeppson has a bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
