Labor's Major Projects Grind to Halt, Causing Blowouts and Delays

Liberal Party Victoria

Life is getting harder for Victorians with the Andrews Labor Government forced to shelve at least 32 major projects, including the North East Link, Melbourne Airport Rail Link and Geelong Fast Rail.

The sudden halt comes despite works already underway on a number of vital projects including the Melbourne Airport Rail Link, which also has Federal Government funding.

Furthermore, the budget allocates no funding to deliver the Suburban Rail Loop East, Arden Health Precinct Redevelopment or the Sunshine Station Master Plan, despite the Andrews Labor Government's promise to fully fund all election commitments.

Deputy Leader of the Opposition, David Southwick, said under Labor, Victoria is broke, life is getting harder and Victorians are being punished for the Government's incompetence.

"Instead of delivering the major projects Victorians were promised, Labor's brutal budget had added further costs, more delays and cancellations to the road, rail and public transport services our state needs.

"Further delays and cancellations of major projects will mean more congestion on our roads, longer commute times, fewer jobs and damage our reputation as a place to live and invest."
