Legal Aid chief reappointed for another term

  • Dr Graham Hill reappointed Director and CEO of Legal Aid WA
  • Leader's second term to run for a further five years

Attorney General John Quigley is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Graham Hill to a second term as Director and Chief Executive Officer of Legal Aid WA.

Dr Hill has spent the past five years leading and managing Legal Aid in Western Australia with his current term expiring in May 2023.

His appointment as Director and CEO is for a further five years.

Dr Hill previously served as CEO of Legal Aid Tasmania from 2014-18 and was Deputy Secretary, Courts, at the Victorian Department of Justice.

He worked for 14 years as a lawyer in private practice and was a partner in a Melbourne law firm. 

Dr Hill was an Associate to a Federal Court Judge, and for eight years provided high level legal and legal policy advice to Victoria's Department of Premier and Cabinet.

He has a Bachelor of Economics and a Master of Laws from Monash University and a specialist Doctorate in Law from the University of Melbourne.

Legal Aid WA is jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments.

As stated by Attorney General John Quigley:

"I congratulate Dr Hill for his diligent service over five years helping deliver access to important legal services for the WA community.

"Dr Hill has put in place a significant number of important initiatives - such as virtual offices which have been rolled out right across WA - and services, including Advice B4 Court, Legal Yarn, and Strength to Strength.

"He will continue to bring his considerable skills and experience in the legal profession to his role as Director and CEO.

"We are pleased Dr Hill has accepted a further term, offering continued stability and strong leadership for the State's largest provider of legal aid services."
