Liberals and Nationals to rebuild Vermont Primary School

Liberal Party Victoria

Students and families in Vermont and surrounding communities are set to benefit under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government with today's announcement of $8 million to rebuild Vermont Primary School.

Years of neglect by the Andrews Labor Government has resulted in major structural issues at the school, including loose asbestos, termites, rising damp in classrooms, water damage caused by leaking roofs and electrical faults.

The desperately needed upgrade will enable a masterplan to be prepared and the first stage of redevelopment to be undertaken, including a newcentral classroom building and administration facilities for staff and teachers.

Despite strong growth in enrolments and desperate pleas from the school, Labor has ignored Vermont families.

Shadow Minister for Education, David Hodgett, said whilst Daniel Andrews and Labor cut ribbons elsewhere, the government had failed to maintain school assets out in the east.

"Neil Angus has been a strong local advocate for his community over many years and backed local families with funding commitments for Vermont Primary school at successive State Elections."

"Only a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will see the community get this much-needed upgrade at Vermont Primary School."

Liberal Candidate for Glen Waverley, Neil Angus, said the Vermont community deserves better than being ignored by Daniel Andrews and Labor just because they happen to live in a Liberal held seat.

"After many years of campaigning, I am determined to see Vermont Primary School receive the upgrade it needs under a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government."
