Lifelong Learning Shapes Wyndham City's Future

Wyndham City Council is calling on residents to share their learning goals and expectations to help shape the Draft Learning Community Strategy 2024-2029, which supports lifelong learning over the course of a person's life, whether through formal or informal education systems.

Wyndham City Mayor, Cr Susan McIntyre, said that the research shows that active minds create happier people, provide opportunities to increase job opportunities and standards of living while contributing to increased overall wellbeing.

"As part of this consultation, we want to know detailed information about what people's educational and career goals may be and what they need to achieve them or the next five years," she said.

"We're inviting feedback on plans for future study that are already being considered, such as finishing high school, changing careers, returning to study or taking up a new interest outside of paid work."

Wyndham City's Learning City portfolio holder, Cr Jasmine Hill, said that; "We are offering programs that cater to all interests and diverse learning needs in libraries, youth services centre and all community learning centres."

"Council offers various programs ranging from baby rhyme time and kindergarten services to youth civic participation, adult community leadership programs, seniors events, music, art and sports, as well as intercultural learning and cutting-edge technologies and STEM programs."

"Council also partner with community groups, schools, universities, and other education providers to provide various learning and volunteering opportunities and career development programs."

"We strive to cultivate a culture of curiosity and discovery in our City, empowering our residents to embrace new challenges, pursue their passions, and thriving to achieve their fullest potential. We would love to receive feedback from the community," Cr Hill added.

Residents are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions before the draft of the Learning Community Strategy 2024-2029 is developed by 15 June through https://theloop.wyndham.vic.gov.au/learning-community-strategy.
