Major Funding Surge Unlocks Land for Regional Development

  • Significant boost for regional land development in Cook Government's 2024-25 State Budget
  • Almost $35 million in new funding to deliver development-ready land in the regions
  • New funding to increase housing supply and support significant regional development projects, to help build strong and vibrant communities in the regions

The Cook Government continues to deliver in regional Western Australia, with almost $35 million in new investment in the upcoming State Budget to supply more development-ready land for housing in the Kimberley, Karratha and Goldfields.

To boost development-ready land for housing in Kalgoorlie, $16.8 million is being provided to unlock 32 residential lots in Stage 5 of GreenView at Karlkurla, with three lots for social housing.

A further $13 million has been allocated for 51 new lots at Karratha's Madigan at Baynton West, with seven lots to be utilised for social housing, and additional lots available for Government Regional Officer Housing.

Additionally, 23 new larger sized lots will be delivered in early 2025 to support an increase in the resident workforce.

Madigan at Baynton is Karratha's newest and more affordable residential estate close to the Baynton West Primary School, community centre, and adventure playground, and is only minutes from the city centre.

A sum of $5 million will be committed to unlock 26 development-ready lots in Stage 13 of Broome North's Waranyjarri Estate, including three multi-residential social housing lots, two single residential social housing lots and three lots for key government workers.

The extension of Tanami Drive, a critical road connection between Broome North and Cable Beach, will also be delivered through the funding.

This road extension will provide important access to around 500 future residential lots and reduce the travel distance for residents to Cable Beach from Broome North.

The Stage 5 works will include a new public open space to provide additional amenity for current and future stages of the estate.
