  • Reflects WA Labor Government's commitment to providing modern and fit-for-purpose sporting infrastructure for local communities

Major upgrades at Sullivan Logistics Stadium in Leederville are now complete, which will significantly improving playing conditions and the spectator experience.

Formerly known as Leederville Oval, the stadium is a premier football ground and home to the East Perth and Subiaco Football Clubs.

Upgrades to the historic ground include:

  • installation of a new playing surface;
  • new irrigation;
  • installation of broadcast-quality lighting;
  • replacement of goal posts, in-ground sleeves and the boundary fence;
  • installation of above-ground dugouts; and
  • installation of synthetic grass on the western boundary.

Raising the lighting quality to broadcast standard means WAFL and WAFLW matches can be played at night, providing more fixture options for the 2025 season.

It also enables the ground to host AFLW matches, pre-season AFL and other AFL matches in future.

The project cost $5.2 million, with the State Government contributing $3.8 million, plus $232,000 through the Club Night Lights Program.

The City of Vincent, AFL, WA Football Commission, Subiaco and East Perth Football Clubs contributed the remaining $1.2 million to the project.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"Leederville Oval has a long and proud history in our local sporting community.

"It's incredible to see these much-needed improvements, transforming the venue into a Tier 2 ground capable of attracting more WAFL, WAFLW, AFL and AFLW games.

"This commitment from our government builds on the record amount we are investing in local sporting facilities, which we know provides enormous benefits to the whole community."

As stated by Perth MLA John Carey:

"Our government is deeply committed to supporting grassroots sport, and this investment will not only support our WAFL teams that play here, but the sport and local community more broadly.

"Leederville Oval regularly attracts thousands of people through the gates on any given weekend during the season, and these upgrades will certainly improve the playing conditions and experience for both players and spectators."
