Detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man following investigations into multiple attempted break-ins at Ormeau Hills yesterday, 14 May.
The arrest forms part of ongoing proactive policing activities under Operation Yankee Forge, a statewide initiative targeting property crime and serious repeat offenders.
Police will allege that at approximately 5pm, a man armed with a shovel attended a property on Adelaide Crescent where he climbed onto a roof and attempted to gain entry to the home.
The man did not gain access to the home and then left the property.
Around 5.30pm, police will allege the same man attended a second Adelaide Crescent address where he attempted to force entry through the front security door using the shovel, causing significant damage.
Police further allege the man then climbed onto a vehicle and attempted to access the roof before entering the rear yard and damaging a second security screen.
It will be further alleged the man forced open a rear sliding door, entered the home armed with the shovel, and grabbed the male occupant.
Officers attended the address and took him into custody inside the dwelling.
The 54-year-old victim sustained an injury to his arm.
A 27-year-old Coomera man has been charged with one count each of armed with intent to break or enter and commit indictable offence, wilful damage, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, attempted enter dwelling with intent whilst armed and trespass - unlawfully enter or remain in dwelling or yard.
He is due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court today, 15 May.

Operation Yankee Forge is a six-month, district-led, statewide initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences, including unlawful use of motor vehicles, unlawful entry and robbery.
The operation will enhance policing activities across Queensland to reduce victim numbers and strengthen community safety.
