A man has been charged over his alleged involvement in the supply of prohibited weapons and several motor vehicle thefts in the state's western region earlier this year.
In March 2026, the Western Region Enforcement Squad established Strike Force Malino to investigate the alleged supply of firearms in western NSW.
Following extensive inquiries, about 10am yesterday (Tuesday 30 June 2026), police arrested a 26-year-old man at a correctional facility in Silverwater.
He was charged with four offences,
- Manufacture prohibited weapon without a permit,
- Use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order,
- Receive motor vehicle part - theft equal to serious indictable offence, and
- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Police will allege the man supplied electronic stun devices in Parkes in April 2026.
Officers will also allege the man was involved with the theft of two motor vehicles earlier this year: a Toyota utility reported stolen from West Wyalong in March this year, and a Mitsubishi Outlander reported stolen from Erina in in April this year.
The man remains bail refused and is due to appear before Bail Division Court 6 today (Wednesday 1 July 2026).
