Man Charged with 50+ Drug and Theft Offences in Albury

A man will reappear in court today charged with 56 alleged drug and stealing related offences in Albury.

In December 2022, detectives from Murray River Police District established Strike Force Gallinule to investigate the supply of prohibited drugs in the Albury/Wodonga area.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Mate Street, Albury, on Thursday 23 February 2023.

During the search, police located methamphetamine, butanol and a number of items alleged to have been stolen, including Lego and a diamond engagement ring.

The items were seized to undergo further forensic examination.

A 34-year-old man was arrested at the property and taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with 56 offences, including:

  • knowingly direct activities of criminal group,
  • three counts of supply prohibited drug on an ongoing basis,
  • 51 counts of supply prohibited drug, and
  • assault police officer in execution of duty.

He was refused bail and appeared before Albury Local Court on Friday 24 February 2023, where he was refused bail to reappear before the same court on today (Monday 6 March 2023).

Inquiries under Strike Force Gallinule continue.
