A man has been charged with firearms, property and traffic offences in the state's Orana region on the weekend.
Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District were called to a home on Keswick Parkway, Dubbo about 11.40pm on Friday 24 July 2026, following reports a man with an outstanding warrant was onsite.
Police arrived and arrested a 32-year-old man, who was allegedly found hiding in the ceiling.
During a search of the man, officers allegedly located and seized a live 12-gauge shotgun shell in his possession, along with a loaded sawn-off 12-gauge shotgun in the garage.
Police also allegedly located and seized several tools believed to be stolen.
The man was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station, where he was charged by virtue of an outstanding warrant for the offences of,
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm)
- Not give particulars to owner of damaged property.
He was also charged with,
- Acquire etc firearm - subject to prohibition order
- Acquire etc ammunition subject to prohibition order
- Firearm etc found at premises-subject to prohibition order
- Possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority
- Possess unauthorised firearm
- Breach of bail.
He appeared before Bail Division Court 4 on Saturday 25 July 2026, where he was granted strict conditional bail to reappear before Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 5 August 2026.
