Man Charged With Manslaughter: Strike Force Modtus

A man has been charged with manslaughter following an investigation into a death in Haymarket earlier this year.

About 5.20pm on Wednesday 1 April 2026, emergency services were called to Parker Lane, Haymarket, following reports of an unconscious man.

The 45-year-old man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a critical condition.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances commenced under Strike Force Modtus.

On Sunday 19 April 2026, police were notified the man had died in hospital.

Following extensive inquiries, today (Thursday 18 June 2026), investigators executed a search warrant at an address in Parramatta.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with manslaughter.

Police will allege the 37-year-old man was involved in an apparent drug overdose.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (Friday 19 June 2026).
