Man dies rock fishing - Kurnell

A man who was pulled from the ocean in Sydney's south last week has died.

Just after 8.15am on Wednesday 25 December 2019, emergency services were called to Voodoo Point near Sir Joseph Banks Drive, Kurnell, after reports a man was in the water.

A 44-year-old man was retrieved by the NSW Ambulance helicopter before landing nearby, where paramedics commenced CPR.

He was airlifted to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

Officers from Sutherland Police Area Command attended and have been told the man was rock fishing at the time, but it remains unclear on how he came to be in the water.

Police have been told he was wearing a life-jacket.

About 8.25pm yesterday (Thursday 2 January 2020) the man passed away in hospital.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
