Nearly $4 million of refurbishments and improvements are currently underway at police stations throughout the South-West, to deliver safer and more secure facilities.
Police Minister Paul Papalia this week inspected some of the works as he visited police stations in the region.
At Busselton Police Station, more than $250,000 is being spent on upgrades to custodial areas and improvements to the general station layout.
At Dunsborough Police Station, $1 million is being spent on a new secure vehicle compound, along with refurbishments to the station and custody areas.
Collie and Donnybrook Police Stations are both undergoing major refurbishments with $1.5 million and $1 million allocated respectively.
The refurbishments have been funded as part of the WA Recovery Plan and will not only provide better and more secure facilities for police, but have created an immediate boost for local South-West workers such as electricians, painters, plumbers, builders and carpenters.
Works are expected to be completed by the end of the year.
As stated by Police Minister Paul Papalia:
"Our police do outstanding work in the regions and I want to ensure they have the facilities they need to do their jobs effectively.
"These upgrades, as part of the McGowan Government's WA Recovery Plan, will provide better and more secure police facilities throughout the South-West.
"These works are also providing a valuable economic boost to the region by supporting local jobs throughout the South-West community."
