Message from our Chair Administrator, Lydia Wilson

To our community,

This afternoon's update on the COVID-19 pandemic from Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has delivered more than just another day of seriously high case numbers (671) and more unfortunate deaths (7).

From 6pm tonight, Victoria will be in a State of Disaster and that means further restrictions on the way we live our lives.

This is sad. This is stressful. This is heartbreaking. But, these extra measures are necessary.

We need to be thinking of, and looking out for, the health and safety of our whole community. This of course means protecting ourselves and our families, but also our friends, our neighbours, front line workers, essential workers and the most vulnerable people living in the City of Whittlesea.

We will know more about what changes will be made to our working life tomorrow.

What we can be sure of is that Council will continue to deliver essential services to the community and we'll adapt quickly to any necessary changes. We will also be looking at more ways we can support our local businesses.

Please stay connected with each other in whatever ways you can - phone, email, social media, video calls, letters, signs of support in your window, or a note in your neighbour's letterbox asking if they're ok.

By remaining vigilant and adhering to the curfew (8pm-5am every night from tonight), by only going out for the reasons listed under new restrictions, and never leaving home without a face mask, we will all be playing our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the hope that life can return to any form of normality in the near future.

Please, if you need support, visit our coronavirus page and reach out to our local support services ready to help.

Lydia
