Mission Australia Offers Tenancy Aid at East Perth

The East Perth Common Ground project has reached a major milestone, with the appointment of Mission Australia to provide the on-site tenancy support services.

Mission Australia has an extensive history delivering homelessness and community services for Western Australia's most vulnerable.

Support services will include case management support, connecting tenants with healthcare and wellbeing services and links to education and training, and employment opportunities.

Upon completion, the East Perth Common Ground will feature 112 self-contained apartments - including a number reserved for people experiencing homelessness - communal areas, 24/7 on-site support services and commercial space.

Construction is anticipated to be completed later this year.

East Perth Common Ground is a key component of the State Government's All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030 , which is designed to improve outcomes for Western Australians experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.

As stated by Community Services and Homelessness Minister Matthew Swinbourn:

"The selection of Mission Australia to provide wraparound services marks a significant milestone for East Perth Common Ground - this project is about more than just bricks and mortar.

"It's about ensuring the right support is in place to give residents the best chance to stay housed, improve their wellbeing, and build a better future.

"As we mark Homelessness Week, it's a timely reminder that safe, secure housing must be paired with services that meet people where they're at - and help them move forward.

"This is another step in delivering on our commitment to end homelessness through long-term investment and real action."

As stated by Housing and Works Minister John Carey:

"East Perth Common Ground is a landmark project of our government, providing those experiencing or at risk of homelessness with shelterand the wraparound services tohelp transition to permanent housing.

"It is great to see a highly respected and experienced provider like Mission Australia appointed to offer tenancy support services.

"This project will help avoid people sleeping rough in our city and providelong termhelp for some of the most vulnerable in our community."

As stated by Mission Australia State Director WA Sue Budalich:
