Monash Recycling and Waste Centre is again the top paint recycling collection point in Victoria under its partnership with paint recovery scheme Paintback.

Thanks to the efforts of Monash residents, the recycling centre collected a total of 214,710kg of paint from July 2022 to June 2023. Monash has been a leader in this program that diverts paint from landfill, securing the state's top title for seven years running as well as being the second overall Paintback recycling collection point for 2022/23 nationally.

Backed by the Australian paint industry, the Paintback scheme takes unwanted paint and paint packaging and ensures it is disposed of safely or repurposed for other industrial uses.

Paint is one of many materials accepted at the Monash Recycling and Waste Centre. From air conditioners to x-ray films, many of these items go on to have a second life.

To take residents behind the scenes at this 'recycling wonderland', we're hosting a site tour on Thursday 23 November for the public to see the centre in action and learn where materials go.

Come discover how your recycling efforts are helping us to lead the way in increasing resource recovery and diverting waste from landfill.
