Monash University has announced the renewal of funding for the Institute for Safety, Compensation and Recovery Research (ISCRR), a joint initiative with WorkSafe Victoria. This renewed commitment, which extends until 2027 with a possible two-year extension, exemplifies Monash's dedication to excellence and enterprise — two of the four pivotal values underpinning the university's Impact 2030 strategy.
The funding renewal ensures that ISCRR will continue its vital role in improving the health and safety of Australian workers through rigorous, evidence-based research. This aligns perfectly with Monash's mission to drive change by pursuing research excellence and deploying knowledge to solve complex problems.
"Renewing our collaboration with WorkSafe Victoria reaffirms our commitment to impactful research. It's about creating real-world solutions that not only advance knowledge but genuinely enhance people's lives," said Professor Doron Ben-Meir, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Enterprise and Engagement) and Senior Vice-President at Monash University.
WorkSafe's continued partnership with ISCRR will support its work implementing evidence-led harm prevention and workplace injury recovery and return to work programs. "This important partnership ensures WorkSafe is well equipped to address emerging challenges in occupational health and safety and injury recovery," said Ash West, ISCRR's Executive Director, Strategic Delivery.
Since its inception in 2009, ISCRR has significantly influenced public policy and workplace practices. ISCRR's research has led to improved understanding and management of workplace mental health, preventing injury and illness, and addressing the challenges faced by injured workers.
