More support for Tasmanian small businesses

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Small Business, Hospitality and Events

The Tasmanian Government has delivered the largest economic and social support package in the country, as a proportion of our economy, including more than $80 million towards small business support programs.

As restrictions ease and we move towards recovery and a new COVID-safe way of operating, feedback is that businesses need help planning for the future.

So today we are launching a new Small Business Advice for Recovery Grant program to directly help Tasmanian small businesses engage an appropriate consultant to provide advice or services that will assist the business in its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The new program opened for applications at midday and close on Monday, 22 February 2021 or when funds are fully expended, whichever is sooner.

All up $1.5 million, which was unspent from the second round of the Business Continuity Grant Program is available through this new Small Business Advice for Recovery Grant Program with successful applicants to receive a one-off grant payment of $750.

The grant can be used for a diverse range of business advisory services such as development of marketing plans, business plans or legal advice and/or support in applying for the Business Growth Loan scheme.

In addition, services previously covered under the Small Business Continuity Program, such as cash flow projections, managing risk, diversifying the business enterprise, or adding value to products and services are also eligible activities under the Small Business Advice for Recovery Grant program.

Small businesses that have already received support through the Small Business Continuity Program are eligible to apply for the Small Business Advice for Recovery Grant program as long as it is for different business support or advice this time around.

This funding is part of the Tasmanian Government's $20 million COVID-19 Small Business Sustainability and Recovery Assistance Package and supports PESRAC recommendation 6.
