More Than $1 Million Funding Secured for Cec Glenholmes Oval Amenities Upgrade

Shellharbour City Council has successfully secured $1,013,333 in funding from the NSW Government to upgrade the Cec Glenholmes Oval Amenities.

The funding was awarded under round 2 of the NSW Office of Sport Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund 2022/23.

Council is also making a contribution of more than $500,000 towards associated facilities.

The amenities upgrade will see the replacement of the existing amenities, which is over 50 years old.

The upgrade will provide better accessibility for users of all abilities and feature change rooms that are better designed for mixed gender use, promoting better facilities for women in sport.

It will also provide a meeting space, better storage and will consolidate the existing buildings for ease of maintenance and improved user experience.

The design for the proposed amenities was developed in consultation with users of Cec Glenholmes Oval and is based on Council's recent experiences from recently built sportsfield amenities throughout the Shellharbour Local Government Area.

Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said he was absolutely delighted with the funding announcement and thanked the NSW Government for its support.

"This is an exciting project that will benefit all users of Cec Glenholmes Oval and see continued growth in community sport in our LGA," Mayor Homer said.

"Council staff worked with users on the funding application to ensure that the amenities upgrade was of the highest standard and would benefit all users."

"Shellharbour City Council's successful application for funding once again demonstrates our commitment to providing amenities that are functional, meet the needs of users, provide family-friendly social spaces and offer clean, accessible, safe, and sustainable sporting infrastructure.

The amenities upgrade project is programmed for construction commencing in 2023, timing will consider the Rugby League season.
