Motorcyclist critical after crash at Alpine

A man is in a critical condition following a serious two vehicle crash in the Southern Highlands today.

About 4.10pm (Tuesday 27 April 2021), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Church Avenue at Alpine, near Mittagong, after reports a Volkswagen Golf station wagon and Honda motorcycle had crashed.

The rider of the Honda, a 44-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the Golf, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from The Hume Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway and anyone who may have dashcam footage or information are urged to contact police.
