Motorcyclist dies in crash - Berkshire Park

A motorcyclist has died following a crash in the Hawkesbury area yesterday.

About 4.30pm (Thursday 22 December 2022), emergency services attended Richmond Road at Berkshire Park, following reports a motorcycle and a van had collided near the intersection of Llandilo Road.

Officers attached to Hawkesbury Police Area Command arrived and found a Yamaha motorcycle had collided with the rear of a Renault van, which was stopped in lane 2, to make a right hand turn into Llandilo Road.

The rider and single occupant of the motorcycle was thrown from the cycle and into the path of oncoming traffic, where he was struck by a truck.

Despite the efforts of bystanders and first responders, the rider – believed to be aged 19 – died at the scene.

The driver of the van and truck were taken to Hawkesbury and Nepean Hospitals for mandatory testing.

A crime scene was established, and an investigation by the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit and Hawkesbury Police has commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to contact Hawkesbury Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
